The crazy house
This is not a crazy house in the sense of an insane asylum, but in the awesome sense of the word "craqy". This house is inhabited by an architect named Juan Jose Diaz Infante Nunez. Faiza and I were walking along Amsterdam Avenue right near where we live returning from lunch when we took notice of this intriguing building. Rang the bell by pulling hard on a long metal chain linked to bells beyond a high poled iron fence. After a some time, a woman appeared from behind a jungle of potted plants, she is the concierge. We explained that we were curious and would like a visit. At first she was hesitant to have us come in, but she finally accepted, seeing as though we are two innocent-looking creatures. We discovered from the woman that we couldn't speak with the architect as he was resting upstairs recuperating from a recent operation. This is his home/studio. He gives conferences here and teaches architecture at UNAM (Mexico's national university). And yes, he is married and has kids...this is where they live! Their dining room is in a spheric structure.
The place is about 4 storeys high. Extremely modern. There are stairs of a few modern styles and material going off in various directions. Felt dizzy when we arrived at the mirrored Mickey Mouse bedroom on the second last floor, too many mirrors make one especially dizzy. He loves Mickey Mouse, which is noticeable as there are versions of him everywhere.
This is why Mexico is a special city. You only need to walk a short distance before you will be stopped in your tracks by something out of the ordinary.

Really cool bathroom! How do you get up there though?? Is this 'crazy house' open for visits, or did you guys just knock on a stranger's door and asked for a visit?
If it's the latter, then, wow, really nice of the lady to let you in!
Yes, I think we sort of knocked on a stranger's door. With my friend Faiza, any door can be opened! The lady was very kind.
I mean, who lets strangers into their house? I was trying to put myself in her shoes...what if someone from a foreign country knocked on my door and asked to take a look around. Would I be willing to let them in?! I guess now I would have to now that I've crossed this border.
