Altitude: 2200 m

Yesterday evening, I signed up for Spanish classes. The class started on Monday, so I am 4 days late. It's from Mondays to Fridays 9-11 am. I attended my first class this morning. The class is small, we were 4 students today. 2 Japanese, 1 English and 1 Canadian (me). The school is a 10 min walk from the Nikko hotel...a piece of cake, so no hunting down for a taxi who will accept to use his metre, nor long and stuffy metro rides for me to reach my Spanish class. The class tuition is more than reasonable. 100 pesos for a 2-hour class, which is about 9.7 Canadian dollars/6.8 Euros. The teacher is going at a very comfortable speed, so I should be able to catch up for the 4 classes I have missed. Since my arrival in Mexico City, I have noticed being out of breath every once in a while. As I climb up the stairs in the metro or after walking for a bit, I am almost panting, as if I was a pregnant woman. But no I am not pregnant...my body is acclimatising. Acostumbrarse, as they say in Castillan, a.k.a Spanish. The English in my Castillan class said today that it's takes about 6 months for our bodies to get used to this elevation. I hope my trip back to Canada in August won't set me back!
